Reflexotherapy

The Reflexology: what does it involve?

Reflexology is both preventive and curative. It is about underpinning your health, your life forces and your immune system. Our hands and feet contain thousands of sensitive nerve endings, all connected to our whole organism.

The ART of hand and foot Reflexology is all about finding the source of tension and dysfunction in the body in order to eliminate them and then to restore the balance of energy flows, achieving optimal health.

Stimulating a reflex point in the foot or the hand straight away activates the organ as well as the glands and the systems linked to them.

Conversely, functional problems in an organ can be discerned in the way they project themselves to the foot or hand, manifesting themselves as a tender area either that may be felt all the time, or when pressure is applied.

Particular movements stimulate reflex points.

Being holistic, the Reflexology acts on the whole human structure – its physical aspects and its energy, and its more subtle mental and emotional states of Being (for example, ending constipation leading to a greater joy of life).

Reflexology is a global treatment, as it stimulates the body to achieve a homeostatic balance and an energy flow equilibrium, meaning that local issues can be resolved of their own accord (for example, skin breakouts become a thing of the past, as the kidneys work better).

Being specific, the Reflexology fosters instantaneous action at a precise pain point (for example, toothache disappears when pressure is applied on the finger that corresponds to the tooth.

Possible reactions and changes following treatments

You should be aware that every treatment is personalised, and therefore different.

The after-effects, benefits and general impacts depend on each individual and on their own sensitivities.

Reactions that occur (within 24 hours) are all individual, and their occurrence depends on the problem being treated. A reaction is a positive thing, and shows that the body is in the process of re-balancing itself.

Changes in symptoms are evidence that organic functions are improving. You might see symptoms disappear completely, or they might reduce in frequency or intensity.

Sensations of pain may be effectively reduced, or they may even briefly intensify – this is often considered as a sign that the body is healing itself.

Therapeutic reflexology is not designed to make a diagnosis or to alter any medical treatment, and under no circumstances should it replace a doctor’s advice.

Therapeutic reflexology is an excellent complement to traditional medicine.

How a treatment progresses

A case history is established during the first session in order to evaluate contra-indications and define a treatment strategy. What happens during each session, and the number of sessions scheduled – are carefully tailored to each individual.

The work is done in a peaceful, relaxing environment.

You are comfortably set up on the massage table and you remain clothed with only the hands or feet – or lower leg – available so that the treatment can then be undertaken.

A variety of essential oils are proposed to the client to foster relaxation and Well-being.

Frequency and duration of sessions

Frequency, duration and content of the session are adapted individually and a

 treatment strategy is developed.

The number of sessions will be assessed function your needs.
